Home / About FIRST / FRC / VEX / FLL / Jr. FLL
Similar to FRC, VEX participants are presented with a new game each year and are challenged to build a robot from a variety of VEX parts. VEX robots are smaller than those participating in FRC but are generally larger and more complex than those in FLL. At competitions, teams compete against one another in alliances of two; the alliance with the most points at the end of the match wins. Awards are given to teams based on their robot’s design and performance on the field, as well as the team’s
enthusiasm and attitude off the field.
After the first year of competition, in 2012, it was decided that it would be better to bring this program into the classroom and it has been included in the “structures” unit of the grade 7 class since then. In this way, all girls in the school get an opportunity to build, program and play with a robot.
